Intersect

September 29, 2018

I participated in the Intersect I-Program for getting an accurate sense of self-knowledge on leadership skills in team settings. In a group of 10, we went through several stages of Bruce Tuckman’s stages of group development. I was most impressed by the forming stage, as each of us had to state how we can contribute to the team while we did not know each other yet. By introducing ourselves to gain a basic sense of our teammate’s strengths and weaknesses, we were able to break the ice and cooperate in a better way. I took the photo above when we were at the forming stage of group development.

Ignite

November 9, 2019

I attended the Ignite program which focuses on the concepts of organizational change, systems thinking, and coalition building. In a group of 8 peers, we had discussion about organizational and societal change initiatives. After studying concepts and tools used in leading change within communities and organizations, I came up with a change initiative in advocating for affordable housing to apply system thinking perspective in navigating complex challenges. Specifically, I was able to draw the systems thinking feedback loop and use the “Golden Circle” to plan for my change initiative. I learned that communicating why and applying strategies to three transition stages are ways to leading through transition. This I-Program has prepared me for opportunities to tackle complex challenges in a systematic way.
